The Hays County CommUnity MLK Jr. Festival Announces a county-wide art contest!

Subject: “What Equality Means to Me.”  Participants will write or illustrate on the meaning of equality, based on the speeches and work of Dr. King.

Submissions for The Children’s Writing and Art Contest are due by January 10, 2022, and can be dropped off at the Hays County Judge’s Office located at  111 E. San Antonio St., Ste. 300 San Marcos, Texas 78666 or emailed to judge.becerra@co.hays.tx.us.

The essay winners will  be allowed to read their essay at the CommonUnity Festival and the artwork will be displayed in the rotunda from January 16 through Black History Month.   The submissions will be judged by a joint committee of volunteers.

  • Written submissions should be no longer than one page in length.
  • All submissions should include the student’s name, age, & grade, and school name
  • All submissions should also include the parent’s name, phone number, and email address
